Collography

Similar to a collage, a collography starts with gluing down objects on a backing board to make a design or an image.  Unlike with a collage, the artist then goes on to print their collograph collage.

This was the second time this school year that the K – 2nd grade students got to experiment in a printmaking process.  (The other was object printmaking).  This time, the students had the choice to “work back into” their prints with oil pastel and paint.

 Printmaking is a type of art that causes many surprises.  Sometimes the students are delighted, sometimes disappointed.  But, always, there is magic in the room when there is printmaking happening.
