Following their 2D to 3D paper sculptures, K - 2nd graders applied what they learned about strong building, balance, & attachments to making sculptures out of boxes.
One of the main focuses running through these units is transformation: How can we make something new out of what we have before us?
After building box sculptures, students paint their work. |
Where will you add texture & pattern? |
After the students painted their sculptures, they made observation drawings of their work.
Drawing from their own work is a great motivator for careful observation.
Students were so invested in exactly how their sculpture was put together that every size relationship, every texture & pattern, every line & curve was important to capture & record in their drawing.
