Animals hold a great fascination for most children. In a previous lesson, students painted animals from their imagination. Sometimes memory fails us, and it is difficult to think of the nuances that make up animals. This can be extremely frustrating for any artist. In order to nurture confidence and ability, in this lesson we looked closely at (plastic) animals to observe the differences between many different kinds of animals. Then, we translated our findings into detailed drawings.
How does our perspective change what we can see? |
What are the parts of your animal that make it unique? What is the shape of the nose? ... of the feet? |
Do you notice the curve of your animal's back? Where is the fin: is it closer to the front or to the middle of your animal's back? |
How can you use your pencil to add texture? |
